Massif du Sud 150 MW

 

Massif du Sud is a proposed wind project with a capacity of 150 MW, located primarily on public lands in the municipalities of Saint-Luc-de-Bellechasse and Saint-Magloire in the MRC Etchemins, and Saint-Philemon and Notre-Dame-Auxiliatrice-de-Buckland in the MRC de Bellechasse.

Composed of 75 turbines, the wind project in Massif du Sud was selected among 66 projects totaling 7 722.2 MW of installed capacity in all regions of Quebec.

The site is scheduled to start operating in December 2012.

BAPE
The office of public hearings on the environment received a warrant hearing for the wind project Massif du Sud. These public hearings began December 13, 2010 and ended April 12, 2011 upon filing of the report of the BAPE Panel to the Minister.

  Liaison Committee  

The Liaison Committee contributes to the development of Massif du Sud. Composed of municipal representatives and groups interested in the project, the Liaison Committee ensures that all interested parties in the community are represented in the development of the wind farm.

To this end, several steps have been taken to ensure good communication including; the establishment of the Liaison office in Saint-Cléophas, and the publication of the quarterly newsletter, The Éole-Lien.

In Quebec, each wind project of 10 MW and above (Regulation on Assessment and review of impacts on the environment, art. 2.1) is subject to the environmental impacts evaluation process and review under Articles 31.1 and must follow the Act Environmental Quality Act (RSQ, c. Q-2) and be authorized by a government decree.
